A mysterious figure from the mists of melodic techno emerges. Meet the French music producer GONE who has just released his debut EP under this alias. Deliberately vague about his past, GONE has chosen to reinvent himself, beginning with the recently released Sources EP but already hinting at more creations. The Parisian producer intends to project himself across the world – in what way, we’re not too sure yet but we’re looking forward to finding out. For a start, it seems visuals will be a major part of his music, as he’s already released a 3D video for the first track – ‘Saved’.

Curious about the man who created the melodic techno that’s been played on repeat in our headphones, we sat down for an exclusive interview with GONE. Find out all you need to know about the rising producer below.

What are your earliest memories of techno music?

Aphex Twin when I was 9 years old.

You’ve just started a clean slate, with the aim to share your music with the world. Do you have a message behind your music?

I want people to feel a large variety of emotions. That is the magic of what music can do to your spirit.

Please tell us more about how your latest release was conceived and created.

I created the EP Sources during the lockdown, in a castle near Bordeaux. A peaceful place quite far from Paris, surrounded by vines.

What are the key pieces of gear or software that you are using when producing music?

I’m using Ableton with analog gears and an original Roland TR-808 drum machine.

What is your favourite part of the creative/production process?

My favourite part of the creative process of creating a track is the 10 first minutes. The rest is mostly technical operations.

What is the most memorable response you’ve had to your music?

Your interview

Outside of music, where do you draw inspiration from?

I’m drawing my inspiration by listening to music in my head. Life is also a great source of inspiration.

Tell us about what your upcoming releases or projects?

I’m preparing a live music event and an upcoming single called ”Out of time”.

You’ve mentioned that you will be sharing dark scenography with your music, intrinsically linked to the history of GONE. Can we get a hint of what to expect here?

The history of GONE is based on a sci-fi universe, an unknown black matter and a mysterious ice cavern in Iceland. You’ll discover more quite soon.
