David Granha is a Spain born producer with more than 15 years of career in the electronic music scene, and a prolific discography in labels such as Noir Music, Suara, Sincopat, Selador, Parquet, Einmusika, KMS, Sudbeat, or Microcastle.
The year 2018 is starting great: New EP ‘Resurrection’ released on Noir Music and Katermukke is David’s very first solo EP. And there are more plans for 2018 such as forthcoming remixes for Guy Gerber and Wally Lopez.
Given his strictness, his music has become indispensable for many of the best DJ’s of the world, thus, he has won the support of artists like Damian Lazarus, Laurent Garnier, Noir, Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Umek, Nick Warren or Dave Seaman.
Without a doubt, 2017 was a very strong year for David Granha in terms of his music career. He performed in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Antwerp, Berlin, Montreal, Toronto, New York, Beirut, Moscow, Kiev, Mauritius, Tunis, Cairo, Itzmir Dubai, Alexandria and Oslo to name a few.
His great adaptation and ability to create different styles of genres, ensure unique and remarkable characteristics in his sets and live performances. Electronically confessed, David masterfully unfolds between narrative landscapes based on dark and melodic sounds, techno cuts and bases with deliberate dirt, melodies that give an unmistakable character and a genuine sound full of class and elegance.
The new Single ‘Resurrection‘ possesses two tunes: The Gates & Resurrection.
The Gates begins both, uplifting and smooth. Ambiental and synth-infused tones are introducing the song alongside a deeply forward driving bass kick. The almost 8-minute long tune beautifully combines dreamy with thriving elements throughout the entire song with a majestical break right in the middle of the track.
His second tune Resurrection, begins deep and straight forward with fewer soundscape components. However, those components will join the track at a later stage.
All in all, the pulsing keys that are precisely added, and well-measured beat elements form together with two very enjoyable techno tunes.

Hi there, how are you and what are you up to today?
Hi, I’m good. Today I am feeling really good, I can not wait to go to the studio.
To those not familiar with you, how would you describe your sound?
Right now, I am actually changing my sound, if you listen to my new EP on Noir Music, you realize that I am more into techno. I have modified specially the kicks, percussions, drums, subs… The music is more dark and fast and not as melodic in the same way that it was one year ago. Still, it has melodies, but not as evident and progressive as it was before. It is harder and sounds rawer. The word is TECHNO.

What are the 5 albums and artists that have influenced you the most?
This is a difficult question, I’m gonna try to search a bit in my history.
1. Michael Jackson – Bad.
2. Laurent Garnier – Shot in the Dark Album.
3. Pearl Jam – Ten.
4. Deftones – Around the Fur.
5. Dj Shadow – Entroducing.
What other artists do you really like at the moment and why?
For example “Victor Ruiz”, because is the perfect combination between techno and melodies. His tracks always work well on the dance floor. I also like “Flug” a lot, he has a lot of components that I love. “SHDW & Obscure Shape”, these guys are using and creating those pads and atmospheres I really enjoy.
What are some of the key pieces of gear you use to write your tracks in the studio? Or do you prefer to use software and plug-ins?
I have used some old synths, but I would say I am a bit lazy in terms of midi configurations and recordings. I have been using FL Studio almost all of my life, and I work with it really quick, so for me, the most comfortable way is this. If I had to tell you some of my favs, I could tell you, for example, PSP Vintage Warmer, PSP Xenon, PSP Vintage Meter, Surge, Kontakt, Reaktor, LiquidVerb… And eventually Diva or Sub Boom Bass.
Has your arsenal of equipment changed much since you first started?
As mentioned earlier, not so much. In the beginning, I had the Roland MC-303, and after that, a pair of Technics SL-1200 MKII. In terms of production, it has not changed a lot, FL Studio, 2 Behringer B2031A, and an Evolution Keyboard. Obviously, I have changed the plug-ins I am using a lot. But basically, that is my set up. I believe that you need to know your room, your monitors and your DAW and after that, it is just a matter of practice, not of equipment.
Do you enjoy playing to an audience or working in the studio?
On the one hand, I’m a studio guy, I love to make music. It has been the way I have always escaped from bad feelings, troubles… I feel very comfortable there. On the other hand, I love to travel, meet people, visit cities, go to parties, and obviously when you are playing for a crowd, especially your own tracks, it is like reaching the top of the mountain.
If we gave you the budget to put a line-up together for a mini-fest, who would you book and where would you play?
I assume there is no limit? Haha yes, that sure sounds like a blasting party. Hey, I am wondering, if you weren’t a musician what would you be?
I would like to be a lot of things, but probably something artistic like painter, photographer, architect, designer or even chef.
Do you have any information regarding upcoming releases, projects, DJ mixes or collaborations in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?
Today I’m reaching #10 techno position with my current new release on Noir Music “Resurrection”. I’m so happy with this release, and especially with the treatment and support, I got from my label. It is not easy to find people like Rene (Noir), passionate, and who do not treat you as a number, so I can not be more thankful with him.
I have my last progressive release on the schedule for June, which is called “Rave Lungs” and it is going out in Katermukke. And I also have 2 remixes, one of them for Wally Lopez, and another one for Darlyn Vlys.
